Have you ever wondered how a piece of jewellery is made? From the initial design concept, through the various making techniques, to the final polish; each piece of jewellery we make in our onsite workshop has its own story to tell.
So, imagine the story your jewellery could tell if you made it yourself…
We have teamed up with The Drawing Rooms, West Malling to bring you an introduction to jewellery making. Taught by our award winning jewellery designer, learn how to master the basics of jewellery making.
No experience necessary. All the materials will be provided, so you can just come along, learn a new skill and enjoy yourself.
Our workshops are held at The Drawing Rooms, West Malling, which is situated on the High Street, next to West Malling Flowers and Viners Funeral Directors.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Do I need any experience?
Nope, this is a beginners course so no experience is necessary.
What will I be making?
You will be making a pendant or pair of drop earrings, you can decide on the day. You will learn the basics of jewellery design before you saw, file, texture and shape your silver to create your final piece.
Do I need to bring any equipment with me?
No, you will be given all the tools and materials you need to create your piece of jewellery.
What should I wear?
Metal work is messy so it's best to wear old clothes or at least things you don't mind gettting grubby. You should also wear closed toed shoes to protect your feet.
If you need glasses for reading bring them with you. Jewellery is small and requires detailed work so better to be safe than sorry!
Is this workshop suitable for everyone?
Because we will be working with sharp saw blades and heavy hammers, this workshop is not suitable for under 18's.
How many people can you accommodate per workshop?
Up to six.
What is included in the ticket price?
2 hours tuition from our award winning jewellery designer, all the tools you need to design and make your jewellery, copper sheet to practise on, sterling silver and a chain or earring hooks for your final piece.
Refreshments will be kindly provided by the Drawing Rooms.
